Sarasota, FL — Sarasota Paradise is proud to announce the signing of midfielder Sander Roed, a creative Norwegian playmaker whose journey through adversity, development, and consistent success has shaped him into one of the most intelligent midfielders entering the professional game. Roed arrives following a standout career at the University of Louisville and brings a record of winning and leadership as the club prepares for its first professional season in USL League One in 2026.
Roed built his foundation in Norway where he progressed through Lier IL, Stoppen SK, and Holmen IF before joining Kongsvinger IL Toppfotball. He earned a professional contract with Kongsvinger IL in the OBOS ligaen and later competed for Notodden FK and Hønefoss BK, both clubs in the PostNord ligaen.
His next chapter came in the United States where he established himself as one of the most productive midfielders in Louisville history. Roed earned All ACC honors in multiple seasons, collected United Soccer Coaches All South Region recognition, and finished with 11 goals and 24 career assists, the second most in program history. With an impressive .53 goal contributions per game, he consistently delivered in the final third and elevated the players around him with his passing range and composure on the ball.
Roed also thrived in USL League Two with Ocean City, where he again proved he was a winner and a game changer in pressure moments. His style of play aligns naturally with the Paradise identity. He demands the ball, connects every phase of the game, and brings the creativity that unlocks defenses.
Roed shared his goals as he begins his professional journey in Sarasota.
“My goals for this season are to compete for the USL League One title, create memorable moments on the field for the fans, and build strong relationships with my teammates so we can enjoy success together in Paradise.” Roed said.
