Sarasota Paradise was gearing up for the most anticipated event of the season – their inaugural game. Weeks of rigorous training sessions, meticulous behind-the-scenes operations, and a 3.5-hour bus ride from Sarasota to Miami had all led up to this momentous occasion.
The excitement in the air was palpable as the players, coaches, and staff prepared to face off against Miami AC. The nerves were evident in the locker room, even extending to the club’s owner, Marcus Walfridson, who watched the game anxiously from the stands, his heart pounding in anticipation.
Traveling fans had made the journey to support their beloved Paradise, wearing the colors of the team, excited to witness history in the making.
However, not everything went according to plan. A few players weren’t cleared yet by the league due to administrative delays, while others were making their return from injuries. The starting eleven featured some of the club’s key players, including Charlie Farrar guarding the goal, Hosei Kijima, Karson Kendall, Roman Holt, Peekay Stoffle, Fabrizio Bernal, Michael Carboni, and Caleb Powell.

The game was tightly contested from the first whistle, showcasing the team’s remarkable effort in their first match of the season. Both sides fought valiantly, but it was Miami AC who managed to put in an unexpected cross that their striker connected with a powerful header. Despite Charlie Farrar’s fantastic game, stopping numerous shots, that cross proved to be too much for Paradise to deal with, resulting in a late goal.

Unfortunately, Paradise defender Michael Carboni, who had been putting in a solid performance, sustained a major heel injury during the match. His absence would be felt deeply in the coming games.
Despite the defeat, the Paradise players kept their heads held high. This setback was just an early obstacle in their journey, one they were eager to forget about. In a mere four days, they would have to return to Miami to face FC Miami City, and redemption was on their minds. Their second away game, an opportunity to make things right.
Stay tuned for Chapter 3 of our Story of Paradise, as we follow the team’s resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity into their second game of the season.
